When you have a busy schedule and have plans after you get off work, you need pieces that can transition smoothly from day to night. While out at First Friday in Oakland with friends, I discovered a local, handmade jewelry designer, April Hall of April May Jewelry. The best part about her jewelry is that they are versatile enough to wear to the office and keep on for happy hour after work. I’m drawn to the minimal and geometric pieces the most. Did I mention that I love handmade and I love supporting local artists?
The HOOPLAH Hoops are simple, yet fun. These sterling silver hoops are lightweight so you can keep them on all day long, which is what I did for the looks below.
My day time look included not enough time to fix my hair, so I threw on a head scarf. Head scarves or turbans are nice cover-ups for those in-between-shampoo days also. I bobby-pinned ringlets of my hair then tied the scarf in the front so it covered most of my hair/bobby pins.
I styled this outfit starting with the accessories. I chose a vintage floral striped square scarf, folded into a triangle. The color scheme is similar to my wedge peep-toes by Chinese Laundry. I put on a polka dot denim crop top from Garage Clothing, black high-waist skinnies, and a blue cardigan. Lastly, I grabbed my vintage Pola makeup case I picked up while thrift shopping (the perfect work bag).
For my night time look, I kept my denim top and hoops on but lost the cardigan and let my hair down. Also remembered to bring my shiniest red lip gloss: Kryolan High Gloss lip gloss in Vamp, but pictured below as a dark red.
Ready for a night out on the town.
