Recycled Art

I love seeing items that usually end up in our recycling bin recreated as jewelry and other accessories. Not only are you doing your part to help the environment, you’re also a wearer of one-of-a-kind (and sometimes vintage) pieces. Below are just some of my faves.

SF Muni Fast Passes turned into buttons, by punkpunk. Look how cute the package is!

Vintage Oakland map pendant, by Kalika Designs.

So before throwing something in the recycle bin, look at the item and be creative! You just might be able to make something beautiful out of it.

Here are some instructions via Instructables on how to create your own pop tab jewelry. You can find different variations of the jewelry in the comments section.

Here’s a great website for some recycled art inspiration. You can find more pop tab jewelry and much, much more on this site.

Happy creative recycling!
