Sock It To Me

Some think socks and open toe sandals are a big fashion no-no, but I beg to differ. I’m not talking about white crew socks worn with Fila slippers (which I admittedly wore when I was in middle school, please don’t ask me why), I’m talking about knee-high socks worn with open toe heels. I first saw this look worn by Chrissy Snow and Janet Wood in Three’s Company (see 70s post below for photo) then it resurfaced onto the runway around 2005 but with a modern twist, and I rocked it when I could even in the office. Yes, I got some strange looks but I didn’t care. I liked it and that was all that mattered. I still feel the same way about them a whole six years later. And not just knee-high socks! Tights look fabulous with a peep toe or a full-on open toe as well. Try it! You might like it!

But please don’t try these looks. Ever. Especially the dress sock and mandal.

At least when I wore my Filas in middle school, I didn’t wear them with shorts like this:
